After Extraction of Wisdom Teeth
Your comfort and recovery are our top priorities. Most wisdom teeth are removed using IV sedation, although local anesthesia or nitrous oxide (laughing gas) may be recommended depending on your individual needs. During your consultation, Dr. Michael Fuentes or Dr. Christopher Thompson will review your treatment plan, explain your anesthesia options, and answer any questions you have before surgery.
Once your wisdom teeth have been removed, the gum tissue is typically closed with dissolvable sutures, and we’ll place gauze to help control any bleeding. You’ll relax comfortably in our recovery area while our surgical team monitors you until you’re ready to head home with your designated driver.
Before you leave, we’ll make sure you feel prepared for a smooth recovery. You’ll receive detailed postoperative instructions, any necessary prescriptions, and a recovery kit to help you care for your surgical sites at home. If questions come up after your procedure, our team is only a phone call away.
Our services are provided in an environment of optimum safety. We utilize modern monitoring equipment and our staff are experienced in anesthesia techniques.

What should i expect after Wisdom Teeth Removal?
It’s completely normal to have some bleeding, swelling, and soreness after your wisdom teeth are removed. Most patients experience only mild bleeding during the first day, and any discomfort can usually be managed with the medications recommended by your surgeon.
Swelling is a normal part of the healing process and typically reaches its peak about 48 hours after surgery before gradually improving. Applying ice packs during the first 24 hours is one of the best ways to minimize swelling and help you feel more comfortable.
We recommend taking it easy for the first few days after surgery. Resting, staying hydrated, and carefully following your postoperative instructions will help your body heal as quickly as possible. While everyone heals at a different pace, most patients begin feeling noticeably better within 2 to 3 days and are ready to return to school, work, or other normal activities shortly afterward. Complete healing continues over the following several weeks.
